Breathe. Lectio 365. SoulSpa.

From December 1, count to 10 and its Christmas!

Obviously not literally, yet what often happens is that the next 26 days flies by so quickly, and we ask ‘where did the time go?!’.

There are 3 things that have been helping me and I think these can help some of us create some ‘slow motion’ moments during December.

Have a read in case it helps in any way.

  1. Breathing to the clock
  2. Lectio 365
  3. SoulSpa week

I need I trust I come

1. Breathing to the clock

This is a screenshot from my phone.

I wanted to remember to pause and take a breath throughout the day.

Frankly, this looks different every day. Sometimes I only take deep a few breaths, sometimes longer. Sometimes I whisper a prayer and remind myself that I am not alone.

If you choose to do this, you could setup your own rhythm and you could

  • Breathe deeply
  • Whisper a prayer
  • Remind yourself that you are not alone
  • Write a note in your gratitude book
  • ….

What could this look like for you? Share with us in the comments.

I think these can help some of us create some ‘slow motion’ moments during December.

2. Lectio 365

I am very grateful for my friend that recommended this app to me. Using the acronym P.R.A.Y. there are morning audio readings that help you:

  • P:ause to be still.
  • R:ejoice with a Psalm
  • R:eflect on Scripture
  • A:sk for God’s help, and
  • Y:ield to His will in your life.

Here is the link to the app [I have no affiliation, just sharing a helpful resource]

There are also evening readings that help you reflect, rejoice, repent and rest to process the day and prepare to sleep.

This is a tool in my ‘stillness toolbox’ because there are days and seasons when I need help to be still. I’ve benefited from refreshing moments, inspiration and insights at these points in my journey.

Is this something that could work for you?

3. SoulSpa Week
just after Boxing Day

Have you ever looked forward to an upcoming occasion or event and it feels like the day is taking forever to come! (If you are the person planning that event you are equally grateful for the time to give you a chance to prepare 😊).

What are you treating yourself to in December?

I am sooooo looking forward to the day after Boxing Day because its retreat time. My husband and I use that sweet spot between Christmas and the new year to breathe, take a pause, look back, do some planning.

This year it will be a bit different because I get to bring some of that to you.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to help you plan for that sweet spot between Christmas and the New Year to pull away from the noise so you can recharge and look ahead with clarity & courage.

Picture this SoulSpa

A little of each of them works for me. I realise I need to be cautious not to try everything at once but to try each slowly and work them into my schedule. But these come at different times so they are practical. Tusen takk.

    1. Same here Arlene. Each work better in a different season. Thanks for sharing.
